What is the Theater?
The Theater is a purpose-built space for all-hands meetings, presentations, and large-scale events. It can accommodate up to 3,000 people and automatically scales to a stadium view with multiple audience sections when more than ~50 attendees are present. For modern, RSVP-based virtual events, you can run events in Theater using On-Air. The Theater consists of four key areas: Audience The audience is where attendees watch the meeting. Schedule a Theater presentation
To schedule a Theater presentation, set up a calendar event in Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar or create a Roam meeting link in Settings > Links. Then assign the event or link to a Theater in Roam. Once the room is assigned, visitors using the link will arrive directly in the Theater audience. For modern, RSVP-based virtual events with guest invitations and follow-up messaging, create an On-Air event and assign the Theater as the destination. Roamoji Reactions are expressive animated gestures you can send during a meeting. View closed captions
Closed captions help everyone follow along with what’s being said, especially in noisy or quiet environments. When enabled, real-time text appears at the bottom of the screen transcribing the conversation. Enabling Captions In a meeting, click Settings in the top toolbar. Ephemeral meeting chat
When in a Meeting Room, Theater, or Game Room, click the Chat button in the bottom toolbar to open the ephemeral Meeting Chat. Unlike chats in AInbox, this is a temporary space for meeting participants to have quick conversations, post images, and share links. Messages in this chat are not persistent—they will not be stored in AInbox or available after the meeting ends. The chat remains visible when recording a video meeting or Theater presentation. Meeting entrance and exit tones
Choose a preset or custom sound to play when you enter or exit meetings and On Stage in the Theater—your entrance and exit tones. Set Your Entrance and Exit Tones Go to Settings > \[Your Name]. Select a preset Meeting Entrance/Exit Tone, or choose Custom to upload your own. Uploaded audio files must be no longer than 3 seconds.
