Magicast is Roam’s fully integrated screen recorder. Quickly record your screen, video, and audio to create desktop videos for team updates, product demos, and tutorials. Magicast can record only a selected portion of your screen instead of an entire display. Record a Selected Area Start a new Magicast from the bottom toolbar. Choose Screen > Select Area. Choose the part of the display you want to record. If you have multiple displays, you can choose which display to select from. Click Use Selected Area. Note: Recording a selected portion of your screen is only available on macOS and Windows, not Linux.

Trim a Magicast to remove extra time at the beginning or end before sharing it with others. Trim the Video Open Recordings from the bottom toolbar. Open the Magicast you want to edit. Click the Trim Video button in the Magicast player. Drag the start and end handles to choose the portion you want to keep. Click Save.

Share a Magicast with anyone by sending them a share link. Click the Recordings button in the bottom toolbar. Find the Magicast you want to share and click the Share Link button. Optionally enable Require Password and enter a password. Click the copy button beside the share link. Password changes save automatically. Use the Share Link menu to change, regenerate, or remove the password. Note: Admins can require passwords under Settings > Roam Administration > Compliance > Require Passwords for Share Links

Folders keep meetings, Magicasts, and On-Air recordings together in one shared place. Create folders for teams, projects, or customers, then add members so they can access the contents without sharing each recording individually. Roam admins can also automatically add meetings to folders. For example, a shared Sales folder can collect matching sales meetings and make them available to everyone in the folder. Open the Magicast you want to embed. Click the Embed Magicast button </> in the header. Customize the size, if desired. Copy the embed code snippet and add it to your website. The embed shows the Magicast video player without the Roam header, transcript, comments, or views. Note: If the Magicast’s share link requires a password, viewers will be asked for that password in the embedded player.

Magicast Comments let viewers discuss a recording without switching to a separate chat. Comments can include rich text and links, and viewers can reply in threads or react with Roamoji. Leave a Comment Open a Magicast from Recordings or a shared Magicast link. Select the Comments tab. Enter your comment and send it. Choose how your Magicast appears in social media previews and before someone presses play by selecting a frame from the video or uploading a custom image. Change the Cover Image Open Recordings from the bottom toolbar. Open the Magicast you want to edit. Click the Cover Image button in the Magicast player. Magicast creators can see who viewed their Magicast, and how much each viewer watched by percentage. A live view count also appears for everyone to see. Note: A view is counted when someone else watches at least 5 seconds of the video. Magicast Views

Magicast teleprompter lets you add a script in a floating window that automatically scrolls while you record. You can adjust the text size, scrolling speed, and window opacity for polished video messages and walkthroughs. Use Teleprompter with Magicast Start a new Magicast from the bottom toolbar.
