Automatic office assignment

Every member in your Roam is expected to have a seat in their own Private Office. In most places where admins can add members, they must choose a seat assignment.

However, when people are added in bulk via CSV or through automations such as SCIM or the Rippling integration, manual seat assignment is not practical, so Roam will automatically assign a seat in a Private Office.

Automatic Office Assignment for New Members

Roam will automatically assign the newly added member to the first empty Private Office available in your floor map. If none are available, a new floor will be created using a template sized for your Roam, and a seat will be assigned in a Private Office on that new floor.

If you’d prefer to seat someone elsewhere after this automatic assignment, you can manually unassign their seat and assign a seat in a different office.

Members Without an Assigned Seat

To find existing members without an assigned seat, go to Settings > Roam Administration > Members and look for the “No assigned seat” value in the Assigned Seat column.

To assign a member a seat, click Edit > Assign. You can either assign a seat manually or choose Automatic Office Assignment to use the same logic described above.

To assign seats to everyone at once, go to Settings > Roam Administration > Members > Actions > Assign Missing Seats. Optionally uncheck any members you don’t want to assign seats to, although this is not recommended. Then click Assign Offices to complete the process, which may take a few moments.

Note: When a member without a seat assignment enters Roam, they will be placed into Reception, which is meant as a temporary location between rooms on the map.
