Best Practices for Designing Your Roam Map
- Density is key. Keep as many people together on a single floor as possible. Avoid isolating small teams, such as executives, on their own floor.
- The visual size of a room on the map does not affect its capacity. Most rooms in Roam can accommodate up to 75 people, while Theaters hold up to 3,000 people, and Game Rooms hold up to 20 people.
- Aim for 15–20 people per floor. This size allows for a mix of private offices and other room types.
- Nothing is permanent. You can easily rearrange or add new rooms and floors as needed.
- Meeting Rooms scale automatically. Roam will create temporary Meeting Rooms when all existing ones on a floor are occupied.
- For teams under 25 people, stick to a single floor. If needed, you can add an extra floor for the Theater.

Room Types
There are five room types in Roam on the Floor Map:
- Private Office. Each member’s home base. Every member of your Roam should have their own private office.
- Meeting Room. Video enabled room.
- Team Room. Audio only huddle space.
- Theater. For all-hands meetings, presentations, and large-scale events.
- Game Room. Take a break with multi-player games for team bonding.
Adding Floors
When adding new floors to your map, go to Settings > Edit Map to enter Edit Mode, then click Add Floor and select a map template based on the number of people who will have a Private Office on that floor. Once you’ve added the necessary floors, navigate to the floor you want to edit (you must be on the floor you’re editing). Use the initial template as a starting point and customize as needed by adding, removing, moving, resizing, and renaming rooms.

Assigning Offices
Each person onboarded to Roam should be assigned a Private Office. To assign a Private Office:
- Go to Settings > Edit Map to enter Edit Mode.
- Hover over the office you want to assign.
- Click the + icon to assign the seat.
- Choose the person and click Assign Seat.
- Click Done Editing Map to exit Edit Mode.
Roam will automatically name the office after the assigned person. You can optionally rename it, such as using a nickname.
Note: Naming an office after somebody does not assign them a seat.
