Roam offers an integration with Rippling that allows you to import and sync your employees from Rippling into Roam. All of your provisioned employees will be automatically added, updated, or removed in Roam as changes are made in the Rippling dashboard.
Each employee’s name, photo, and email address will be synced from Rippling during the initial integration or when a member is added. The name and photo fields can be updated later in Roam (e.g., to use a nickname), but those changes will not be synced back to Rippling.
Note: The integration is also available from the Rippling App Shop.
After the initial member sync, review your Roam member list in Settings > Roam Administration > Members to ensure everything looks correct. Roam displays a “Managed by Rippling” column in the table. Specifically, check for the following:
To set up Single Sign-On (SSO) with Rippling, follow the prompts in the Rippling dashboard. Roam will automatically import the SAML metadata from Rippling and create an initial SSO configuration.
To complete the SSO setup, you’ll need to provide two fields to Rippling. In Roam, go to Settings > Roam Administration > Technical Setup > Single Sign-On (SSO). Find the Rippling SSO configuration, click the three dots, then select Edit SSO. Scroll to the bottom to find the Service Provider ACS URL and Entity ID fields. Copy and paste these into Rippling when prompted.
After providing these fields to Rippling, be sure to enable the SSO configuration in Roam Administration.
Once the integration is complete, Rippling will automatically sync member data to Roam under the following conditions:
Each employee’s name, photo, and email address will be synced. The name and photo fields can be updated later in Roam (e.g., to use a nickname).
No. Changes made in Roam, such as name or photo updates, will not be synced back to Rippling.
Roam uses the work email field to match existing members. During a sync, if a matching member is found to have an existing work email, the member is updated rather than duplicated. The member’s existing name and photo in Roam will not be overwritten—unless the member has no photo, in which case the one from Rippling will be added.
If your company uses multiple work email domains or email address formats (e.g., john.smith@company.com and jsmith@company.com) and has existing members in both Roam and Rippling, be aware that duplicate members may be created if email addresses differ between the two systems.
Yes, all members will be assigned an office using automatic seat assignment. If you’d prefer to seat someone elsewhere after this automatic assignment, you can manually unassign their seat and assign a different office.
Yes. You can manually add members to your Roam account in Settings > Roam Administration > Members. These members will not be managed by the Rippling integration, making this a good option for contractors, advisors, or others who aren’t included in your Rippling account.
The person who sets up the Rippling integration will be assigned an Admin role. All other members added through the integration will be given the default role of User. To modify a member’s role, go to Settings > Roam Administration > Members.
If a Roam member is managed by the Rippling integration, you cannot delete them directly in Roam. To remove them, you must deprovision or remove the user in your Rippling dashboard. This change will then sync to Roam, and the member will be removed automatically.
