Reply to a chat message

Use a threaded reply to keep a side discussion connected to a specific message, or use a quote reply to bring the original message into the main conversation. Both options are available in channels and DMs.

Reply in a Thread

1. Hover over the message and click Reply in Thread. You can also click the message to open its thread.
2. Write and send your reply in the thread panel.

On a wide AInbox window, the thread opens in a third panel so the original conversation stays visible.

For busy channels, change the chat style from Regular to Force Threads in the channel’s Settings tab to encourage threaded replies.

Quote Reply

1. Hover over the message and click Quote Reply. If the button is not visible, click the three dots and select Quote Reply.
2. Write your response and send it to the main conversation.
