Music on the map

When you’re in your Private Office and playing music from the Spotify or Apple Music app, Roam automatically displays a music playback icon on your office, showing the song you’re listening to.

Music on the map

How Music on Map Works

Music on the map is active when all of the following conditions are met:

  • You’re using the Roam Desktop app.
  • You have enabled “Show Now Playing Music” in Settings > General.
  • You’re in your Private Office.
  • You have granted Roam screen share and Automation permissions (Mac only).
  • You’re playing music from the Spotify app (Mac, Windows, or Linux) or the Apple Music app (Mac only) on the same computer as the Roam Desktop app.

Additional Notes

  • Spotify album artwork is not supported on Windows.
  • If you use both Spotify and Apple Music, switching between them requires quitting the first app for Roam to detect the second one (pausing playback is not sufficient).
  • In rare cases, music detection may stop due to a macOS bug. Learn how to resolve music detection on macOS.
  • You can disable music on the map in Settings > General > Show Now Playing Music.
