Hardware requirements for using Roam
Video conferencing software is resource-intensive, especially when using video effects like virtual backgrounds or face touch-up or playing games in a game room. To ensure optimal performance, particularly for heavy users, your device should meet the following hardware specifications.
Minimum Hardware Specifications
RAM
- Minimum: 16 GB
- Recommended: More than 16 GB if running additional resource-heavy applications alongside Roam.
CPU & GPU
- Mac: Any Apple Silicon computer (provided the RAM requirement is met).
- Windows: A CPU with a CPUBenchmark.net single-core score above 2,500 and a multi-thread score above 10,000. A capable GPU is recommended for features like background blur and game room. While specific models may vary, a good GPU is typically paired with a good CPU.
Additional Considerations
- Testing: Before purchasing multiple devices, test Roam on one system to ensure compatibility and performance, particularly to identify any driver issues or Chromium-related incompatibilities.
- Driver Updates: Keep all drivers, especially GPU drivers, up to date to avoid performance issues.
