Send a confidential chat message

Confidential messages disappear after the recipient reads them, making them ideal for sharing sensitive information that shouldn’t remain in the permanent chat record. When in Confidential Chat, messages are permanently deleted from Roam’s servers once they’ve been read by all recipients and the chat is closed. Unread confidential messages expire after 24 hours.

How to Send Confidential Messages

Open a DM chat (one-on-one or with multiple people).
Click the Confidential Chat button in the top right to switch to confidential mode.
Type and send your message.

Note: Group chats do not support confidential messages.

How to Read Confidential Messages

When you receive a confidential message, hover over the message pane to reveal it. If you need to hide the message temporarily, move your mouse away—this is useful if someone is nearby and you want to keep the message private. The message will remain accessible until you close the chat.
