Auto-DND for Google Meet

When you’re in your Private Office and join an external Google Meet meeting, Roam can automatically set you to Do Not Disturb (DND) mode with a Meet icon.

How Auto-DND for Google Meet Works

There are two ways Auto-DND is triggered for Google Meet.

1. Using Progressive Web App (Mac/Linux only)

Important: You must be using a Mac or Linux and use the Google Meet Progressive Web App, not Chrome or another browser.

Auto-DND for Google Meet is enabled when all of the following conditions are met:

  • You’re using the Roam Desktop app.
  • You’re using a Mac and have granted Roam screen share permissions, or using Linux and X11 (XWayland sometimes works).
  • You’re in your Private Office.
  • You’re using the Google Meet Progressive Web App, not Chrome or another browser.
  • You’re not already in DND mode (Roam will only switch you to Meet DND if your status is set to “Knock Required”).

2. Magic Minutes Desktop Recording (All Platforms)

You can enable Auto-DND for Google Meet by using Magic Minutes Desktop Recording.

When you have a scheduled Google Meet event on the calendar associated with your Roam email, you’ll receive a notification in the top-right corner of your screen shortly before the meeting starts. Select Join Meeting & Record Magic Minutes from this notification to automatically start Magic Minutes. This will lock your door and add the Meet icon to your office.

Note: This only works if you join using Magic Minutes. If you join the meeting without it, Auto-DND will not activate. After the meeting ends, you’ll need to manually stop Magic Minutes, as Roam is able to track when the calendar event starts, but not when the meeting actually ends.
